GTA 5 Multiplayer Review

Welcome to GTA 5's multiplayer. The new environment features more than a couple of new activities but retains the same formula that has made GTA 5 so addictive for so long.

Once again, the sport options are a mixed bag. For starters, the inclusion of new mechanics doesn't improve the mechanics much and there is little reason to get excited about the new manoeuvres.

Jumping off of buildings and rails, attacking in midair and landing safely, racing head first into walls and then flying into the air, punching and kicking in midair, sliding around as you cross rails and rails which are damaged are just a few examples.

GTA 5 multiplayer is as engaging as ever but rarely feels exciting or innovative.

The Guns of War mode plays out a similar game as GTA 5's main game modes. There are fewer details, more goals to complete and the fact that it is co-op only does not really change the general style and themes. When it does, there is a very interesting and personal twist.

Although playing through GTA 5 in multiplayer as Trevor changes the way you play with any player, playing GTA 5 online as Tyler changes the way you play as GTA 5.

GTA 5's multiplayer does not feel very personal, as many of the details are very generic, including the additional involvement of different stats for everyone. Where GTA 5's multiplayer does feel personal, it is when you play as Tyler. Playing as Tyler, you get the benefit of a second controller, a handful of new power-ups and different ways to complete objectives.

GTA 5's co-op will almost certainly be a hit with players. There are just a couple of issues with this aspect. The biggest issue is that there is no way to revert to another character once you have started a co-op game.

This means you will always be the same character that is always in the open world. Players that are not the protagonist of GTA 5 will often find themselves frustrated as they are unable to complete objectives while another character is involved and unable to complete the co-op objective.

The other issue is that GTA 5 offers so many ways to play in co-op and, although GTA 5 is a hugely unique game that encourages players to experiment with all of the features, there are certain ways of doing things that are not appreciated.

If co-op plays out like GTA 5's main game, many players will find themselves frustrated when they are stuck at an objective and cannot advance.

If you can change characters after a co-op game, players will feel better and, as long as the rules do not change, players should be fine with it.

GTA 5 – Multiplayer Add-On

One of GTA 5's great strengths is its extended online play. GTA Online remains arguably the best online environment in the entire series, and not simply because it is such a fantastically expanded version of the single player game.

As we have already stated, GTA Online will be updated with a new selection of vehicles, activities and a wide variety of new player profiles in its upcoming updates. It is highly likely that GTA Online will also be expanded in some way with new features, including the ability to upload videos and screenshots to the GTA Online forums.

This will be a massive step forward in GTA Online's ability to communicate with players. However, this doesn't even account for GTA Online's role as a GTA 5 add-on.

One of GTA 5's most important features is its ability to let players experiment with different ways to play with other players. GTA 5 is already incredibly difficult and gritty to begin with. The additional difficulties and adjustments offered by GTA Online help players push their skills to the limit.

All the gameplay elements of GTA 5 offer so much to experiment with and we think that GTA Online does this better than any GTA title to date.

As long as GTA Online remains a permanent feature of GTA 5, players will always have a reason to play with other players. Co-op adds an entirely new and exciting way to play the game but, as a GTA 5 add-on, GTA Online fails to improve GTA 5's core mechanics or challenge the main game.

GTA 5 Multiplayer Review – Summary

GTA 5's online features are at their best in its co-op play. Although GTA 5 is fairly complex and offers a large amount of game play, GTA Online does allow players to explore its mechanics in a different way and challenge themselves in a wide range of ways.

There are some unique features and a good range of gameplay mechanics but, as a multiplayer add-on, GTA 5 Online fails to add any additional benefit to GTA 5. GTA 5 Online is a far better addition than any add-on to a main game, although GTA 5 is a great game all-round.

GTA 5's online features deliver everything that GTA 5 offers in a great and easy-to-explore way. GTA 5 Online does not feature many extra features but, as a GTA 5 add-on, it provides an incredible experience that is not included in the main game.
